Mention the word “Klang”, there are always two things that come to mind: Bak Kut Teh and the freight hub of Port Klang. But let’s talk about the food. We all know that Klang is a home to Bak Kut Teh, or “meat bone tea” in English. Served with steamed rice and yau char kwai (fried Chinese breadstick), Bak Kut Teh is usually enjoyed during breakfast and dinner. Restoran Bubur Goreng
There’s white porridge, and there’s bubur goreng. Oh, wait... what? Bubur goreng, as in fried porridge? Yup, you read that right. Believe it or not, this sought-after porridge restaurant in Taman Berkeley offers an unusual twist, unlike any porridge dish you have try before. Instead of a typical white version, this unique fried porridge is brownish in colour. If you’re wondering what makes the fried porridge brown, here are the ingredients they used: dark soy sauce, dried cuttlefish, dried shrimps, tofu and yam cube. Not to mention, deep-fried pork lard and chopped yau char kwai are added as toppings. All these mixtures made the fried porridge fragrant, yet savoury in flavour.
Apart from their signature fried porridge, you can also savour some of their other noteworthy dishes such as crab mee hoon, homemade steamed lala (clams) and fried mantis prawns.

Restoran Good Hakka
If you love Hakka dishes and specifically Hakka yong tau foo, Restoran Good Hakka should be your next checklist in your Klang’s food-hunting adventure. Unlike your typical Ampang yong tau foo, the Hakka version favours a mix of fish paste and minced pork as stuffing ingredients. What’s more, the fish paste is made from scratch using ikan tenggiri (or “mackerel fish” in English). Prior to mixing it together in the minced pork, the mackerel fish paste is seasoned with salted fish and onions to help boost the flavour. The stuffing is then added into different vegetables such as chili, ladies’ finger, eggplant and bitter gourd. There are two types of Hakka yong tau foo you can choose to enjoy: dry version, which serves with a bean paste sauce or the clear soup version. The Hakka yong tau foo is available in either 6 pcs or 12 pcs.
And of course, if you have a room for more, Restoran Good Hakka also offers other delicious home-cooked Hakka varieties such as yam abacus, Hakka braised pork and pork vinegar trotter. Do note the traditionally strong-flavoured Hakka dishes served in this restaurant is specifically toned down to suit the local tastebud.

I.V. Restaurant
The first thing you will notice in I.V. Restaurant is the huge crowd that occupied the indoor and outdoor area. So, what gives? Apparently many local residents in Klang love the way the restaurant made the roti canai. Hence the famous word of “Roti Canai Pandamaran”, which emblazoned below the name of their apple green signature loud and clear. Their signature roti canai is light, crispy and almost devoid of the oily texture normally found in a Mamak or Indian restaurant. Best of all, they are made fresh upon order so you don’t have to worry about getting cold and stale roti canai. The restaurant also serves good roti telur and roti bom, as well as fragrant yet frothy teh tarik to perk you up in the morning.

Restoran Boston Baru
The name of Restoran Boston Baru has been synonymous to many local residents in Klang, especially those who love seafood. How so? Let’s just say this restaurant is often packed to the brim. In fact, it was so popular that people willing to queue up as early as 5pm before the restaurant are even open!
Now for their seafood. If you’re looking for their signature dishes, they got plenty of them. First up, there’s the steamed lala. Served in superior soup, these fresh lalas are perfectly steamed using a robust mix of Chinese wine, sliced gingers and cili padi (bird’s eye chili) to enhance the overall flavour. The next must-order list is their Nestum/cereal mantis prawns. The mantis prawns are coated with an abundance of cereal bits and deep-fried to crispy perfection. It’s a great appetising dish that best paired with rice or you can even eat them on its own as a snack. Apart from the Nestum mantis prawns, they also serve butter and corn version.

Restoran Fatty Mee Hoon Kuih House
Just like the name of this restaurant, they are popularly known for their signature mee hoon kuih. For the uninitiated, mee hoon kuih -- also known as hand-torn pan mee -- is basically made from a dough and pinched into small pieces using a hand-cranked noodle machine before cooking them in boiling water. What makes the Fatty’s version so popular among the locals in Klang is their slippery smooth, yet thin slices of mee hoon kuih that blends well with clear soup, pork slices, fried anchovies and choy sum.

Kedai Makanan Seng Huat
So, you think we’re going to leave Bak Kut Teh out of the list? Not a chance. As a matter of fact, we actually saving the best for last because no trip to Klang would be complete without indulging on a hearty meal of Bak Kut Teh! But if you’re a first-timer to Klang’s Bak Kut Teh, it can be challenging when comes to finding the best of the best that worthy of your money, time and effort. After all, there are lots of great Bak Kut Teh restaurants around the Klang area with places like Kedai Minuman Dan Makanan Teluk Pulai, Restoran Kee Heong and Ah Her.
Then there’s Kedai Makanan Seng Huat or better known as “Under The Bridge Bak Kut Teh”. This hugely popular restaurant has been around since 1979 and still standing strong, thanks to their traditional yet authentic Bak Kut Teh recipe. Unlike most Bak Kut Teh restaurant in Klang that has strong herbal flavour, Seng Huat’s version is lighter and more pleasant in taste.
