4 Brands You Can’t Miss During Lazada’s Ramadhan Sale

Hari Raya Aidilfitri is less than a month away, and this means shopping, shopping and more shopping during the month of Ramadhan. I believe that the best way to shop during Ramadhan (or any other time) is online as shopping online really does help us to save time, money and energy. On 4th June, we were invited to attend their Ramadhan sale event at Pullman Hotel Kuala Lumpur and boy did we enjoy ourselves!  Read on to find out about what we got to experience during the event.

It started off with Lazada’s Head of Online Marketing, Roberto Mata, giving us a brief presentation about their journey so far, with 2016 being “your best year yet” as quoted by Roberto. He stressed that the past year has been a really exciting one for them thanks to the many projects which came about, with the most recent one being an investment by the renown Alibaba Group back in April. In May, they launched their new homepage which interface is more visual and tactile and has been proven to enhance user experience. This new interface also caters to mobile and tablet users, as Roberto believes that mobile is booming.

He then passed the flow to Eddy Yap, Lazada Malaysia’s Head of Campaigns, who briefed us about this year’s Ramadhan and Hari Raya campaign. Eddy presented to us a few insights, including top searches during the month of Ramadhan (such as home makeovers and Malay fashion) and knowing the customers’ spending patterns which is crucial to planning a successful campaign especially during festive seasons. This year’s theme would be Marhaban Ya Ramadhan which translates into Welcome Ramadhan in Arabic and would last for slightly over a month (1st June till 11th July 2016) with weekly thematic deals running throughout the campaign period to ensure that everyone gets what they want for Raya on time.

We also got the opportunity to witness special brand collaborations between them and big brands: DJI Drones, Flash Plus 2, CT Hardware and Nestle. The most exciting product presentation was of course, by DJI Drones. They showcased their latest drone with a demo of it flying across the ballroom, wowing everyone who was present. We found out that all DJI’s Phantom drones can fly as high as 500m (hint: that’s taller than the Petronas Twin Towers)! Now that’s pretty cool. Next was the latest smartphone by Flash (formerly known as Alcatel), the Flash Plus 2 which is all about the camera.
