The existence of salt flat in Salar de Uyuni is due to the transformations between a few dried-up prehistoric lakes blanketed by a gleaming crust of white salt. With the exception of several accentuated altitudes such as Isla Incahuasi, the vast landscape on the surface is completely flat. What’s more, if you are happen to be there when it rains, you can experience the surreal beauty of the Salar de Uyuni beyond your wildest imagination. How surreal, you say? Imagine a surface of the salty crust reflects itself as a giant mirror! Now, that is one-of-a-kind experience worth remembering for.

Should you decide to book your next trip to Salar de Uyuni, the best way is to take a 4x4 tour that can be accomodate up to 6 tourists. Depending on the kind of experience you are looking for, the best climate to visit the Salar de Uyuni is between July and October. But if you are more fancied on witnessing the reflective surfaces, it is best to visit between March and April instead.

b) Tianzi Mountains, China

Otherwise known as “the Monarch of the Peak Forest”, Tianzi Mountains is situated in Zhangjiajie in the Hunan Province of China. These spectacular view of rock pillars spanning 67 square kilometres, with the highest peak topping at 1,262 metres (or around 4,140 feet) above the sea level. September and October are often the best months to visit since the weather is more comfortable. Apart from witnessing the picturesque beauty of the Tianzi Mountains, you have an option to climb the rock pillar as well. Alternatively, there is a designated cable-car ride built on the cliff of the Tianzi Mountains where you have the perfect angle to immerse the Mother Nature in all its glory.

c) Lake Retba, Senegal

Also known as Lac Rose, you will be surprised that the colour of the lake is... pink! It may sounds hard to believe, but Lake Retba’s pink-hued water is actually due to its high salt content caused by the Dunaliella salina bacteria. The bacteria is the one that responsible for forming its distinct pink colour. The colour is particularly visible during the dry season from November to June.

d) Icehotel, Jukkasjarvi, Sweden

If you love cold climates, then this unique place might capture your interest. The Icehotel (or ICEHOTEL) is a combination of hotel and art exhibition made almost entirely of ice and snow. Located in Jukkasjarvi, Sweden, you can experience sleeping on the bed made from ice. If that’s not enough, even the main hall, bar and chapel are also made from ice. And just so you know, it is also reputed as the world’s first ice hotel ever built.

e) Glass Beach, Fort Bragg, California

Who could have thought the dumping ground of the beach in Fort Bragg from 1906 to 1967 becomes a surreal beauty of Mother Nature? Thanks to the abundance of garbage ranging from bottles to cans, the beach in Fort Bragg has since nicknamed as “Glass Beach”. It is one-of-a-kind tourist spot worth taking photos for. But you can forget about bringing home the sea glass from the beach since it is prohibited by the law of the California State Parks.

f) Sapa, Vietnam

Those who love outdoors may enjoy the experience of visiting the lavish, yet wonderfully charming greenery of the paddy town.
